Hello,

I have an Acer Aspire A515-51G and I want some opinions before I upgrade my RAM.

Right now the laptop has 8GB (4GB soldered on motherboard and 4GB switchable). I'm thinking of removing the 4GB and placing a 16GB, in order to have 20GB (which is the maximum supported for this motherboard). Current RAM run at 2133Hz with CAS 15 and runs at Dual Channel. My two final options are Corsair and G.Skill

1) https://www.corsair.com/eu/en/Categ...133MHz-C15-Memory-Kit/p/CMSO16GX4M1A2133C15** *[70€ where I live*- ~79$]

2) https://www.gskill.com/specification/2/197/1537264131/F4-2133C15S-16GRS-Specification *[58‎€ where I live - ~65$]

My quenstion is do you think that I'll face any problems if I place a 16GB with the current 4GB soldered. Because they won't run at Dual Channel anymore (it's called flex-mode if I'm not mistaken). Will it be better to have 8GB Dual Channel or 20GB Flex-Mode? Lastly, do you suggest one of the two manufacturers, did anyone faced a similar problem?

Thanks in advance,

I would recommend following the existing structure, because some computers do have problems if want use something different. There have even been situations where some companies' products have been blocked, even if all data are the same, You can't install, because the company has been blocked. Probably some agreements between them. Any other an explanation cannot be.
If you are a regular user and do not process any huge maps or very large movies, you should not have any problems if you have 8GB of RAM.
I recommend very thorough research and consideration so as not to be disappointed later and lose time and money.

I think I'll go with 4GB solderd and upgrade to 16GB dimm in order to get the benefits from 20GB Flex Mode [ (4+4)GB Dual Channel and 12GB Single Channel ].
