Is it possible to have a laptop that reads regular CDs and burns/plays regular DVDs?

Is it possible to have a laptop that has a CD-Rom Drive and burns/plays regular DVDs too?

Yes, combo drives. They read/write CDR's and DVD's. I want to say all laptops have them w/ the exception of really old laptops or netbooks

Yeah, only the ancient ones don't come with that. In the last 7 years, I believe they had them as standard.

In a strong attempt to confuse matters further: I have a drive in my desktop that will read DVD/DVD-Roms, CDs, but only burns CD-R and CD-RWs. The disc drive in my laptop burns all of them and reads all of them.

That is called a Combo Drive. It can only read DVD-R, but can burn CD-R, -RW.
