windows xp desktop went to ****

The icons all disappeared and the words stayed. how do i fix that? I know a reboot will fix that but i want to fix it for good.

Another problem: In my computer I don't have that screen on the left saying info about the hard drive and other stuff when you click on the hard drive.

the last ? i have did do it randomly.

The first one the icons disappeared after I quit out of CS:S.

Sometimes when I quit out of CS:S the screen goes blank and i have to restart my computer. Please help me if you can.

if this happens again..... right click the desktop, arrange icons, show desktop icons (if this fixes it ur done) but if it doesn't repeat it again, sort of as a refresh.... it should work... usually does for me with halo but see if it fixes it
