who here uses media center 2005?

Is it correct to say the main point of getting the MCE 2005 OS is to watch and record TV?

Is it correct that the OS or something will block you from recording ESPN, or HBO or something like that?

You can only record local TV shows or something?

Can you record HDTV programs?

I have heard that HD programs take up about 3 times the space of a regular TV program. Supposidly, even an 8.5 GB double layer disk can only hold about 30 min. of HDTV video.

Since double layer DVD's are so pricy, I assume that recording HDTV and burning it on a DVD is not very common or even possible.

Will Longhorn have a media center edition?

tried it, open source version is more versatile and free

no blocking im aware of, if the signal comes into your PC it can be recorded just like anyhting else

you can record anything

sure, if your tv card is HDTV compatible

no, its about double the space compared to a DVD, but thats highly dependent on bitrate

sure its possible to put on a dvd

dunno if longhorn will or not, stock basic version, probably not
