sound in 98se but not sound in XP

I've got a pc running 2 partitons and 2 operating systems, win98se and xp on the other, I've also put in a 5.1 sound card, installed drivers, now there's sound in win win xp all 5 speakers playing but in win 98se only two speakers and when I test demo from sound card drivers cd all working 100% but when I play movies nothing and everything is connected properly doubled checked. No sound when I play movies or audio from computer, can any one help.

hmm . . . does 98 have support for 5.1? which card do you have?

it should work as long as the card supports it... I know that creative has "speaker settings" where you have to set it to 5 speakers or 4 or what have you... maybe you should check that out?

Done all that, I'LL TRY AND RELOAD WINDOWS 98SE AGAIN
