is a higher screen refresh rate better or lower screen refresh rate better?

Higher is allways better, try to get a refresh rate of 75hz or higher.

yeah, 75 is good, thats about the point where ur eyes can look at a screen without getting sore for about 6hours i think, altho ive been sitting infront of a computer for 12hrs+ before but the higher the better like BRoWZ said.

you're ok between 72-85 although higher is better. I prefer 120Hz @ 1024x768 but my current compaq monitor isn't capable of this kind of high refresh rates. It has a max of 60Hz @ 1024x768, but I forced it to run at 75.

I only have a CRT and it runs 1024*768 at 85hz max which i find quite easy on the eye.

If i run it at 60hz i can visually see a flicker and can easily see how people would get a headache after a few hours!
