RAM Question / Issue... Suggestions Needed TY

well im kinda in a tight spot

AMD XP 2000+
ECS K7S5A V3.0

my kingston value ram 512meg DDR pc2100 -- DEAD

and i ordered myself a new computer..... but i want to turn this one into a lan server

i cannot find any pc2100 for less then 150 but i am not paying that when i can get pc3200 or pc3500 for 50 - 60 dollars

now my question is if i get the ram that i can get and put it in there will the system start and the ram will just set itself to pc2100?

any ideas or concerns please post

to my knowledge, yes, it will set it self lower automatically, but my knowledege is limited so you may want to get a second opinion

I agree, the ram will automatically slow itself down to PC2100.

As long as its the same type of ram (DDR) then pretty much any ram will do.
