i'm building an athlon 64 gaming machine, and i'm conflicted between the 3400 and the 3200. i know this question has probably been asked to death, but i don't frequent these boards that often. does anybody have any links to actual benchmark tests? is it worth the extra $200? i'll be playing games like Farcry and UT 2004.

its nowhere near worth the extra cash. just buy urself sum waer cooling for 100 and overclock to faster than the 3400. although the speed difference wouldnt be that noticable tbh.

athlon 64 3200 doesn't overclock for shiz but is still a better deal

the 10% gain of the 3400 over the 3200 is nothing

10% gain is probably being a little generous. Save the $200 for some RAM or the video card or something and just get the 3200.

i saw that somebody said that the 3200 doesn't overclock well, why doesn't it? does the 3400 OC better?

no amd 64s in general do not overclock well

but yes the 3400 is 10% better

2.2 vs 2.0
