Picking Memory, Does Brand Name Matter?

In you opinion does memory brand name matter?
If so which should I get. I want about 1 gig of memory and I have a Asus A8V Deluxe that supports dual channel DDR400 memory.

You must not get value ram, unless you are only using the pc for surfing and email. I suggest these brands: corsair, ocz, geil, mushkin. Some get value ram, i would spend more money ont he ram, its important

wats ur budget, and what do u use your pc for?
If ur a gamer, dont get value, well itl still be fine, but wont last as long as better qulity ram, costing you less in the long run.

Well I dont really have a budget but it would be nice to pay less than 200 dollars. Is that unreasonable? I will be using it for gaming. (Hl2, Doom3, CS: S)

or you can spend less for 1 stick of 512 thats even better quality like 3200XLPRO wich is about 130-150 for 1 stick of 512, then get a second one later.

PS: I looked at your sig and wow thats an awsome machine! Mind if I copy it? I was thinking of getting the athlong 3500 and a a8v deluxe and the same video card. How do you like your video card? I have read great reviews on it.
