I am considering upgrading my cpu from a 266fsb (amd 2400 xp) to a 333 fsb (amd 2700 xp). right now I have 1 gig of pc 2100 ram and I was wondering if it will still work with the 333 fsb cpu, or it upgrading my ram is required before the system would work?

thanks for any advice

it will still work there would just be no reason in uping the fsb if you don't plan on buying 2700...but yes it will still work.

the 2700+ doesnt cost a lot at all, y dont u just upgrade ur ram to 3200+ It will help, but i think it should work, make shur ur mobo can tho.

don't get 3200 because you won't be able to use it...i think. if he wanted to use 3200 he would have to upgrade to 400fsb.

well i plan on upgrading the ram eventually as well. i just wanted to do everything in small steps so as to not spend to much money at once. thank you for the advice. i already have a mobo that supports 266/333/400

the ram should work, how do u think the guys with like ddr4200 or 4400 or some 533 fbs ram do on there xp procs or p4cs?
