Need help with CD/DVD-ROM/RW device

Hi,
I recently bought a Dual CD-RW/DVD-RW drive and when i plug it in the computer freezes 30 secs after system startup. The same problem happens when I try to use a virtual CD drive emulator such as Alchohol 120% or DaemonTools. Here are my specs:
Processor: Intel P4 2.4GHz
Ram: 768MB DDR RAM
Graphics card: ATI RADEON 9600XT (256 MB)
Motherboard: Asus P4 533-E
Hard disk: Maxtor 60GB
I use Windows XP with SP2.

Did you update to latest drivers? I had a problem with drive emulators too, but my problem is that when I burned stuff my DVD-Rw and CD-RW devices couldn't be reconized.
