Monitor flashing

Hi,

I have recently had trouble with my monitor flashing. At first, the monitor would flash for a couple seconds after it was awakened from "sleep" mode, and then stop. Now, the problem has gotten worse: The monitor will flash from the moment you turn the computer on, and it will only stop when you log into Windows XP and open a program (weird, I know). Similar to what I described above, the screen will also start flashing when it awakens from sleep mode; only now, instead of stopping after a couple seconds, it will continue until a program is opened.

I have an AMD 1800+, an Nvidia Geforce4 MX 440 Video card, 512 MB RAM, and a dell M780 monitor. I have installed the latest video card drivers, to no avail. Any ideas on what could be wrong, or how to fix it?

it sounds like there is a software problem thats all i could guess i dont have a specific answer. but judging by the fact it reacts to programs etc it must be software related. could be a virus i suppose

Try getting the latest monitor drivers from Dell.
