I just recently built my first computer and boy was it a exercise in frustration. I wont go through the whole story, just the facts. I'm using this 478 socket ABIT http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/products.php?categories=1&model=164
I had an MSI NEO2 but it crapped out while installing windows. I'm using a p4 3.0e chip with 1mb cache and 800fsb 478 with this heatsink and fan http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=35-103-144&depa=1
I have attached 3 reports from Everest showing info about the comp. Easier than filling this page up with any useless info.

I mostly use the computer for just web surfing, playing music and ALOT of downloading and playing vids. I am going to start getting back into gaming but i want to make sure i have worked out anything before hand. The CPU seems to run hot to me for the heatsink i have so im going to buy some good thermal grease and reinstall it and see what happens.

Anyway i want to see if anything in those reports jumps out at the experts. I'm going to upgrade the geforce fx 5200. i know its crappy. Anyone think i should upgrade the ram? or just OC it a little.
Is that ABIT board any good? its all bestbuy had at the time and i wanted to get it working.
Does socket type have an effect on cpu performance? I figure it must make some difference?
I'm not a novice comp user and def. not an expert or i wouldnt be here. I just like to get as much info as possible. im going to start learning about OCing and maybe try a little tweaking when i feel i have a good knowledge of it.

Any imput or advice would be great
Thanks guy/gals
Joe
