Intel to release a quad core Xeon with a 50W TDP

Intel this week officially pulled the wraps off two new quad-core Xeon processors on the opposite sides of the juice-sucking spectrum – the powerhouse Xeon X5365 and the conservative L5335. The new Xeon X5365 is not so new at all, and previously saw exclusive shipments in Apple Mac Pro systems. However, the Xeon X5365 is now available to those seeking 3.0 GHz prowess without having to purchase a Mac Pro.

Intel pairs the 3.0 GHz clock speed with a 1333 MHz front-side bus speed. The Intel Xeon X5365 fits within a 120-watt power envelope. The latest energy efficient Intel Xeon L5335 fits within a 50-watt power envelope. Intel's Xeon L5335 features a 2.0 GHz clock speed paired with a 1333 MHz front-side bus.
