1. Can anyone suggest anything to improve this? for the same price or less. i will be overclocking the CPU thats why ive chosen the 2400Mobile.

GMC H60 case + 400W Maxpower PSU
Abit NF7-S Rev 2.0
AMD Athlon XPMobile2400+
2x512Mb Corsair XMS DDR400
GeForce 6800GT 256Mb
2x80Gb WD SATA 7200Rpm

2. could anyone recommend a HSF that is good, but quiet? (<40dB)
3. I'm not sure about the ram should i try to get PC4400? or keep it as the corsair?
4. should i get this graphics card, or go for the 9800Pro 256Mb? because it is significantly cheaper, but not even close in performance...

Looks good. DEFINATLY stick with Corsair. You can use the stock heatsink and mount the appropriate size of the Vantec Stealth fan.

As much as I hate to say this... the 6800 GT Ultra will outperform the 9800 PRO 256 for 2 reasons. One, the architecture of the 9800 256 was changed. The 9800 128 outperforms it. Second, nVidia drastically dropped image quality to increase performance (they needed to outperform ATi for once)...

For the memory, if you are able to find PC4400 (DDR1), it is really PC3200 (400 Mhz) which has been overclocked.

Those WD Caviar HDDs are a very good choice.

ok, i knew that the 6800 outperforms the 9800, but the issue is that the 6800 costs heaps more, so would it be better just to wait, another few months and get the 6800 or just get the 9800 and upgrade it later?

Sell some stuff and get the 6800. Whats the use of getting the 9800 if youre just gonna replace it...

yeah, because its the Mobile XP2400+ its designed for laptops. it has an unlocked multiplier and can be clocked to about 3.4Ghz - thats why im getting it :)

what are peoples thoughts on corsair value select? im chosing between 2x512Mb Value select or 2x256Mb of the exact same stuff, just not value select. and the Value select is only $10 more expensive, what should i get?

now that i think about it.... i recon ill go for the 2x256Mb, coz ill be overclocking heaps...
