my current computer set up is being upgraded as we speak. i am putting in a new P4 3.0Ghz 800mhz fsb Prescott into my computer.
the processor that is currently in my mobo is a P4 2.4 800mhz fsb Northwood. i would like to buy a mobo, ram, and decent case. i would like a little server computer, nothing fancy, but something that gets the job done. like a small game server or music server or something. i have the video card and the hd and cd/dvd drives.

could you guys give me some input on the mobo, ram, and case. that would help alot, especially with the mobo.

oh yeah, its also good to be back on the forums again. havent been here in three months almost.

thanks again. :D

this is what i was looking at for the mobo:

which one would be the better board, or am i off and need to choose a different board?
this is what i was looking at for the ram:

and i guessing right now, any case will do. like this:

tell me what u think. your input is a must.

Get the Gigabyte, as it seems the Asus isn't worth the price, especially since its an old 478 mobo. You should be able to oc your computer to 3.6 gigz.

Get the Asus, it has way more things that the Gigabyte especially when it comes to storage devices. And tons of features :

- Power Loss Restart
- Support S/PDIF out interface
- ASUS POST Reporter
- ASUS MyLogo2
- ASUS Q-Fan technology
- ASUS EZ Flash
- ASUS AI Booster
- ASUS CrashFree BIOS 2
- ASUS Instant Music
- Intelligent CPU frequency tuner
- ASUS JumperFree
- ASUS C.P.R.(CPU Parameter Recall)
- CPU, Memory, and AGP voltage adjustable
- SFS (Stepless Frequency Selection) from 100MHz up to 400MHz at 1MHz increment
- Adjustable FSB/DDR ratio, Fixed AGP/PCI frequencies.

The gigabyte doesnt. Asus makes a good P4 board.

i have the internet part done already. oh yeah, how about the ram, ocz premier value ok? or u guys think i should spring for some better ram?
i dont think i will be oc'ing any of my components. so stock is fine with me. thanks for the input with the mobo....any chance there are better ones out there? wondering, thats all. im also thinking that this case is ok, besides, i will only be checking on it every now and then. no lan parties either.
