my esc key is jammed into my lptop making it hard to do anything. (it stops everthing) can i de-assign stop to the esc key?

In Linux, you could probably Xmodmap it to another key that is not used, but in Windows, I don't know how you'd do this.

With the majority of laptops, you can remove the keyboard panel from the inner surface of the laptop, allowing you to replace or repair it easily.

There's several programs out there that will let you reassign keys on your keyboard (for instance allow you to arbitrarily make, let's say F7 act as escape, and allow you to disable your Escape key). I know of a great one, but I can't find it at the moment, I'll post back with a link as soon as I can find it (freeware). For now, do a google search for something like 'download reassign keys windows'. Of course, that's a temporary solution until you get the physical problem fixed.
