hd regenerating softs: inpage operation

Hi. I have a disk that died yesterday without any logical reason.
It's not my boot disk, it's my second drive, data disk.

I get this error:

disk not accessible, Error Performing Inpage Operation

Chkdisk can't fix the problem.

OS is win XP

Is anybody solved this and by the way, what to think about HD repairs softwares as hdd regenerator and hard disk mechanic?

Are they really working and can they solve this problem and retreive my data?
