have older pc with win98se . win xp was installed over it but a bunch of problems arised. don't really need this pc but would like to get it operating and give it to a friend. how can i completely clean the hardrive and start over.have all the driver discs etc. for hardware. just want a fresh hardrive.

Be aware that if you are trying to install win98 (which I would recommend) instead of XP, & the existing file system is NTFS, you will have to delete the current partition(s) first.

You can use a normal (win98 etc) boot disk for this. Use fdisk to delete the NTFS partition & recreate a FAT32 partition.

NB Fdisk will recognise the NTFS partition as non-dos, so option 3, then option 4 in fdisk.

Noting you have an Intel (Fedora) motherboard Pentium III - 733-MHz,

I already rebuilt one PC with that motherboard for my kids but I haven't found a user manual to check the correct way to connect the power, reboot, HD, etc. leds.

Does anybody can give me an advice on this?. Any hint will be extremely appreciated.

A.

In 'My Computer', right click on the drive and select 'Format...'

Sorry, maybe I didn't make the right statement. I mean, I don't know how connect the front panel cables and led (power on, reset, HDD, speaker, etc).

Thanks
