i prefer 9800pro over 9600xt . . .

if you play games that are REALLY intense, then you can go for 256mb, but usually 128mb will suffice

I'd say the 9800 pro is better. 128 mb should suffice, but the absolute newest games (Doom3, Far Cry, Half Life 2, etc.) have special texturing options for 256 mb cards, which makes them look even better.

if you have enough for a 9800xt get an X800

9800xt~7,000 3dmark
X800XT~11,000 3dmark

thats a significant power jump for minimal cost jump

i say 9800pro 128meg>9600pro

9800Pro better garphic but slower compare to 9600XT
9600XT faster than 9600Pro but the graphic not as good as 9800Pro
128MB is very sufficient for graphic card.

I will prefer 9800Pro. :p

hahaha, lol problem solved! i had a questeion. what is the diff between the x sieries and the regular sieries?

Obviously a 9800NP/PRO/XT will own anything below it, regardless of VRAM, the only difference is bundles and clock speeds. For example, if you saw a 9800PRO for 150 bucks, you can bet it's the 128-BIT underclocked verson, whilst a 250 dollar 9800PRO might be overclocked/come with better cooling (this is assuming the regular ati 9800PRO costs 200 bucks, which it does not). If you're going with a 9800PRO, I STRONGLY suggest the HiS 9800PRO 128 meg version, worth all of the 240 bucks because you can overclock WAY past 9800XT speeds, and that's a damn good value.
