I've read a few posts about flashing the M830LR with the BIOS from ECS. I am upgrading a pc for a friend that has the M830LR. He was running a Duron 900 MHz and I got an Athlon 1.3 for it (had I known it sould support an Athlon XP with the BIOS flash, I would have bought one of those instead). It is only recognizing it as 1000 MHz. I'm sure that the BIOS flash would fix this problem, but I have read a FEW stories about people f-ing up their computers by attempting this. I really can't afford to leave my buddy without a computer. He uses it for his business. Is there a BIOS update/flash utility from PC Cips? If not, is this a pretty reliable method?
(I have flashed quite a few BIOS in the past, so I am well aware of the risks involved)
