I have very limited knowledge of hardware but this is the setup I somehow decided on. I'm building it to beable to play current games for the next few years smoothly (full detail/medium resolution now - medium/low detail and resolution down the line)

Any of the hardware listed underkill/overkill? Does it all look compatible? 560W PSU a little much?

Thanks for any information provided =)

Ill say it before the regs rant about your 800xl (or w/e it's called)

get the 6800 gt instead PERIOD.

Though this is great, I prefer seagate. YOu can look them up if you want... this is fine, so I'm not going to take the time.

$32 Rosewill black CDRW w/ DVD-ROM

I got two of these: the first one had a damaged IDE connection, and the other simply would not read some CDs or DVDs. Get a better brand, such as BenqQ or Lite-On.

Heres a pioneer... a little bit more expensive, but just to give you an idea.

Looks good.

if u want to overclock, dont get XMS. its okay, but not great. get OCZ. if u dont want to overclock, get G.Skill. and switch the mobo to a DFI Lanparty nForce4 Ultra-D. And if ur willing to wait, get a next gen vid card when they deubt in june/july

the more power the better, there's no such thing as an overkill for PSU's

btw, you should get PCI-e, as it is newer now

i'd go with a DFI lanparty and a 24pin PSU (ocz powerstream 520W or antec TPII 500w) and the newer gfx cards if you can wait a month and bump that 3700 down to a 3200

That really seems great to me for the price, but I feel as if I'm not thinking much today...
