some help regarding the available writers in the market.i want a

writer which has a good writing speed and reasonable

price.i've generally heard that benq and L.G writers are one

among the best.so if you have any sort of information about it,

please share it with me.

Do not cheap out on a DVD writer. It is still a relatively flaky technology, and buying a cheap one will prove disastrous in a very short while. I had a cheap one, and when it started to go, it started to go. It would randomly not backup some DVD's, and randomly not burn some. It was weird, so I bought a nice Sony one for $55... Dual layer as well. It is so fast, and no errors. It is swell. If you can afford it, you should get Lightscribe, they are super cool.

LG is an extremely reputable company. Anythign they make is good. For DVD drives, Sony makes excellent ones. I got a swell deal on it.

THOSE JERKS! Now it is only $48.99.

Also, never try to write to a disc that is faster than the drive. If your drive only goes to 4x, and you try to burn on an 8x disc, it will destroy your drive. But the other way around is fine. If you have an 8x drive and burn to a 4x disc, the drive can slow down.

i just ordered a nec 3540 from newegg. pretty good for 45 bucks.

does anyone know any good 16x dvd-r disc brands? cheap but not generic..

thanks.
