Is duel channel REALLY that much faster?

My friend is running the exact same ram i am except he uses dual channel with the 512's - I just have a 1gb stick. He has basically everything i have in his comp, but mine seems to run a little faster. Could this be the diferece in dual channel?

Dual channel is supposed to be faster, so it wouldn't make sense that your computer runs a little faster than his computer....

Do you both have the same mobo, or does one support dual channel and the other one doesn't? If you have the better mobo, maybe that's why yours runs faster.

No we have the exact same everything except video card - he has the power color ati 9800 and i have th ati 9800 pro. I wouldnt think that would make that much difference as far as processes go?? or would it?
