Data Error: Cyclic Redundacy Check

that pretty much means a disk error or a memory error - have you tried a different CD? (packet writing can be very finnecky anyway)

At a lan once, I forgot lan cables so I used a friends spare HD to copy stuff from everyones comp to mine, and I got that error once.. Every file on the HD worked except one(it was an important one too  ) . All i can guess would be that it burnt weird, just try reburning the disc, or go through and check if its one file screwing u up or a few.

OMG CAN IT BE POSSIBLE THAT MY HARD DRIVE IS screwed?????

or maybe my dvd-rw is screwed

i mean if the disk is dead, big deal, my friend gave me that cd-rw for free and i've used and scratched it for like 2 years

btw, i think tis happened yesterday as well when i was transfering some songs on my comp

I dont know, maybe. But what i was saying was that I saw that same error when copying from a friends HD. It was a dead HD that we got living again somehow, so it was expected some kinda error to come up.

ok, it's not my hdd

it's either the disk or my dvd-rw

i guess i'll report after doing some more tests

from what you are saying its probably the CD-RW disc. of course, in the relatively unlikely and sad event that is is your hard drive, there are still ways to recover the daya. one of the easiest ways that most people are afraid to do is to put the drive in the freezer for a few hours, or overnight (yes, i'm serious). anyway, boot the drive and retry. ive done this countless times with great results and no drives killed from the process. anyway, it shouldnt get to that.

Gah i was researching the above about hard drives in the freezer on a message board

And the message board turned to porn, and i dont have spyware.

That is a sig waiting to happen, and i didnt know that CD drives had cylinders :/
