I'm trying to connect a Targus ultra mini retractable optical mouse, which says it will work with a USB port but won't (more later about that) to the computer PS/2 mouse port.
If I have USB legacy disabled in the BIOS, the computer doesn't recognize the mouse at all and complains that there isn't one attached. If I enable BIOS USB legacy, the computer doesn't complain, but the mouse doesn't move.
The computer is an old Dell Dimension system, Planar motherboard, bought in 2000 or 2001.
Is there a connector cable or adapter that will work in this direction? I can find plenty of them to convert PS/2 devices to the USB slot on the motherboard, but I need to go the other way.
Thanks in advance for any help.
