Celeron vs. AMD 3000+ XP

i've posted similar questions.. but i'm still not sure... ok to make a direct comparison, is a Celeron D 340 (2.93GHz) better than a AMD Athlon XP 3000+ (2.10GHz)??? or is the AMD better? I'm gonna use if for a lot of data requiring softwares... doom3, database stuff, etc. thnx everyone
