ASUS A7N8X-X onboard sound does not work

I have built 2 identical systems and the onboard sound does not work. I chose these MB for several reasons. One being the 6 channel audio for gaming. Neither system's onboard sound will work, only the front sound jack.

The specs report "The A7N8X uses an onboard Realtek® ALC650 audio CODEC that lets you enjoy high-quality 6-channel audio without having to buy advanced sound cards." and "Realtek® ALC650 6CH w/built in HP amplifier." But Windows XP Pro Device Manager detects NVidia (R) nForce (TM) Audio Codec Interface.

I have tried loading the drivers for the ALC650 with no change. I don't understand why the NVidia Codec is being recognized.

Ok have you set up on board audio in bios? If yes its probably defective on both boards

Yes, the onboard audio is set up in the BIOS

LOL go to the motherboard site and download the driver thats what i had to do....
