Transferring data from old laptop HDD to PC

My old laptop broke so I took the hard drive out. What is the best to transfer some files from that drive to my desktop

Hook it up via an external enclosure and copy/paste the files over to your desktop.

You may need to take ownership of some folders in order to access them (particularly those under the C:\Users\ folder that contains your Documents/Picturesl/etc. folders):

Thank you, will just any enclosure work, I saw some cheap on amazon

If you're not going to be using it much then yes that'll be fine. As long as it has the same interface for your HDD (anything within the past 8 years will be SATA).
