Problem with GPT Hard drive formatting.

Hi: I just bought an ASROCK X99 Extreme11 2011-V3 Mobo and it will not format a WD 3TB hard disk in GPT. MBR works just fine but a third of the drive is not recognized because of MBR. I called ASRock support and the Chinese tech said that it is not the Mobo? I initialize the drive as unallocated with Acronis 2018 and it shows up as such in Disk Management in windows 10 Pro. When setting up the new simple volume in DM as GPT the formatting goes on forever with no result. MBR is fine. ????????? Windows 10 Pro 64bit

Motherboards don't format HDD's, unless it has some utility built in I guess.

I would just use a GParted LiveCD personally.

Used EaseUs Partition Master software and the problem was solved. Rediculous that W 10 Pro will not format in GPT without adding proprietary software!!

I've done it on over 20 drives, with an ASRock board at that.
