Laptop Won't detect hardware devices..

Even tho my friends told me to send in my laptop to the manufacture to have a full diagnosis. But still I really want to know what happened to my laptop b4 i send it in.

The problem with my laptop is sumtimes it won't detect my hard drive or dvd-rom. but sumetime it does.
And when i run diagnostic software for my system, it shows i have some serious low HDD read/write speed.

can any1 plz tell me wat's wrong with my laptop?
I checked HDD, it is fine, didn't find any bad sector or anything.

Sounds like the motherboard is a bit dodgy. Is the HDD IDE or SATA? I'm guessing something is screwed with the IDE controller. Might be the cable, if they're on the same cable.

I just brought this laptop like 3 weeks ago.
MY HDD is sata, but how would a screw up cable give a sumtime it works but sumtime it doesn't problem :/ ?

Give us the make and model number? Have you looked for bios and or chipset driver updates?
