Ok hi all, I have recently ran into a problem when I removed 2 nvidia 8800 gts and replaced them with one nvidia 280 GTX. Apon installing the 280, I'd get a green light on the card, but during the first 30 seconds of boot time...the rig shuts it self down....??!! I know the PSU is good enough...I replaced the old one just for this new vid card...650 watt 40 amps on 2 12 volt rails..... but this freakin shuting down thing escapes me.....any advice ?

Could be a driver problem with your OS or your board is still expecting your SLI setup. What are you running? Motherboard, OS etc.

i always remove the drivers with the old card(s) in place, re-boot and stop windows from installing any drivers, shut down, install the new card, reboot and install the new drivers.
did you remove the old drivers from your system?

If the power shuts off as well then it could be a power issue like you said or it could be a temperature/temperature reading problem. What do you have hooked up to each rail?
