Default thoughts on the x38 chipset

i guess the x38 is a replacement to the 975x, and is similar in relationship to the 975x and p965 with the p35? i haven't really looked into this new chipset much.

im looking to upgrade to a q6600 or e6750 and a ds3r, but i had my eye on the new chipset that has pci-e 2.0. does anyone know if there would even be a difference in performance right now? also is anyone else a little mad that it is supposedly only going to be ddr3 compatible? im not spending $400+ on new memory.

My gaming rig:
ASUS P6T | i7-920 D0 @ 4.0GHZ - 1.25v w/ H50
GTX 460/768MB (750/1500/2000) | 12GB Corsair DDR3-1600 @ (8-8-8-24)
2 x PS-100 32GB SSD Raid 0 | 4 x WD 750GB Raid 5 | Corsair 620HX
Asus 21.6" LCD (1080p) | LG 32" TV (1080p)
Logitech G15 | Logitech MX518 | Logitech MX1100 | Razer Mamba

The X38 is supposedly going to be a monster overclocker. Possibly more than the P35, because the whole board and chipset was designed specifically for overclocking. I'm guessing this is going to be pretty pricey, along with having to get DDR3 ram. So it's only for the enthusiasts with money.

iMac 27" 5K Late 2014 | macOS 10.15.2 | i5-4690 @ 3.5GHz | 32GB DDR3-1600 | R9 M290X | 1TB HDD/128GB SSD
