Hey guys, I'm going to be honest, the last time that i've built a computer was back in 2000. So i'm pretty out-dated. I've been reading on some stuff but there is just so much going on and I can't really keep up. But now i'm ready to build a new system and I need the forum's help. I know that there are intel fans and amd fans. My request is for a build setup from an amd fan and a setup from an intel fan. My budget would be around 1000 to 1500 since i'm about go to college this summer and I'll be able to afford that. Thanks

dollars or pounds???

Intel build off the top of my head

Cpu:e6420
motherboard: abit AW9D-max or asus p5n-e
Ram: g-skill 2x1gb
Psu: 550W by good brand
gfx: 8800gts 320mb
hsf: zalman 9700/9500 or scythe ninja
Case: anything you want really with good cooling the antec 900 is very good
artic silver 5 cpu paste

Amd build:
cpu: 4800+
motherboard: asus makes a great am2 board can't remember the name but costs about $90

The 600 has been delayed again from what I have heard. The R650 is going to be released with nvidias next top card.

Oh and a little info for thought AMD has released a few Athlon 64X2 cpus that are acually clones of the fx series. The 5200X2, 5600X2, And 6000X2 are all clones of the FX cpu that runs at the same speed,Only the X2 models R way cheaper CPU Charts | Tom's Hardware
this shows that the 6000X2 is better than the E6600 in fact the 5600X2 outperforms the E6600 And the 5200X2 not listed is almost the same performance as the E6600 the 5200X2 is about 50 points behind the E6600 on this test did the research myself since it wasnt listed anyway all 3 of these cpu's R cheaper than the E6600 and offer better performance per dollar any way newegg has 5200X2 at $169.00, 5600X2 at $185.00 and the 6000X2 at $229, the c2d E6600 at $235. Considering that the 5200X2 runs barely behind the the E6600 for $65 less and the 5600X2 will give you better performance than the E6600 for about $50 less, And the 6000X2 is only 6 dollars less it outperform the E6600 by about 10% on this benchmark think the cpu test on 3dmark06 is one of the most demanding cpu test thats why I chose it.Conclusion AMD may not compete for best overall but in my opinion they R still the best for the money. If you R educated enough to get one of these 3 FX clone models.:nerd:
