I am in the process of building a new Computer from the ground up.

Its going to be a Quad Core system at 2.66Ghz a piece
4+GB of RAM
1000 Watt SLI approved power supply..

the main question I had was what at this moment should I do for the GPU system?

I have looked around..and tried to do some research and really been searching for opinions.

I was thinking Dual Nvidia 9600 GT 512mb at 720hz a piece..running them in SLI

but didnt know if just a single 9800 GX2 would be better

budget wise I cant afford to SLI the GX2..but am looking to run games like Crysis without a hitch at the best..or closest to best settings possible.

Hit me up with some wisdom.

Thanks Jake

You don't need a 1000w PSU for either a 9800gx2 or 9600gt's in SLI, I'd say pick up 1 9600gt now thats eVGA, then use the eVGA step up program and pick up the 9900gtx (which outperforms the 9800gx2) when it comes out, so get a Corsair 650tx

You don't need more than 4gb nowadays, plus you also need a 64bit OS to read that high amount of RAM

q6700 is a good CPU...

I am going to tell you what I have been telling alot of people for weeks, save your money and wait for the battle between the 4870X2 And the 9900GX2.

when is the 9900 GX2 coming out...this is going to be my college computer..but was hoping to get it all done with here by the end of the month.

thanks for the advice..also Im going to run Vista Premium 64

what size power supply should I get then? I believe that corsair you said is 650watt..just checking

According to Maroon theres no 9900gx2, just 9900gtx, and I mentioned the step up program in my post up there

I think for now Im going to go with Dual SLI Nvidia 8800GT...later on when Im in college I can take some Student Loans and upgrade if needed

they seem to get some good performance and can run Crysis on Very High

Complete Setup as of now:

Intel® Core™2 Quad-Core Processor Q9450 at 2.66GHz, 1333MHz FSB, 12M Cache
Enermax Galaxy nVidia-SLI Certified 1000Watt Power Supply
Asus P5N-T Deluxe NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI Intel Quad Core Ready
4GB Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4PRO X 2 DDR2 800MHz Memory with LED (4 X 1024MB)
500GB S-ATA II 7200 RPM Hard Drive
nVidia GeForce 8800 GT 512MB Xtreme Plus Edition @700MHz x 2
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit w/Original DVD

Entire Setup cost..2600 bucks with 19" Widescreen monitor and 7.1 Surround

That seems way too pricey for what you're getting...

are you buying this from Cyberpower?

Don't bother with the Q9450, they suck because of that 1333fsb causing a low as heck 7.5 multiplier, that PSU is highly overkill, get a PC Power and Cooling 610 silencer, maybe drop to 2gb

Im building my pc through VigorGaming.com

could be why its pricey..completly ground up could be why also

should I stick with Dual Core..or just bum up to higher FSB Quad?
