Before I begin, let me just say that I love these forums. I have been visiting them for about a year, and find them extremely informative. Until today I have not had anything to ask or add, so I didn't have an account.
I am pretty good with computers. I have built two computers in the past, and am getting ready to build my third.
I want to build a gaming PC. Something that will run any game I want to play very well. Something that is pretty future-proof. I don't want to have to upgrade anything for a long time (Maybe that will be impossible with the GPU.)
My problem is that I have not been keeping up with the newest computer components. I have no idea what to buy, and with how hectic my job is right now, I don't have the time to do a lot of research.
I loathe AMD, so I want an Intel processor.
I also want an Nvidia video card, I think the best for gaming is the 8800?
I have never over clocked anything in my life, but am willing to learn (as long as I can't destroy anything by screwing up.)
My spending limit is 1400-1600 dollars.
I basically would like for someone to post a build that fits in that price range for gaming. Keep in mind I play on a 22" Samsung 226bw, so the resolution is 1680x1050, I suppose I might need to upgrade to SLI, so I would like an SLI Mobo.
I can pick the case myself, but any suggestions are definitely welcome, especially since my house has no AC in the summer...so cooling an OCed processor might be a little tougher.
Also, XP vs Vista? I think I want to stick with XP, but am open minded, and wouldn't mind hearing a solid argument in favor of Vista.
Thank you for taking the time to read my essay  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
