couple of notes\questions:

1. I'm not looking to spend more than $1,300, like to stay close to $1,000 if I can. Probably not going to OC anything.
2. Should I go with the Q6600 or E6750?
3. Recommendations for a sound card?
4. Any suggestions for other parts? How does it all look?

I think you would be better off with a Tuniq Tower for your Heatsink & Fan, though if you aren't overclocking at all you might be fine with stock cooling. I really recommend overclocking though...

I'd get the Q6600 if you can afford it.

I heard Sound Cards don't work as well with Vista... maybe someone else can provide more info about that.

I'd probably swing for a bigger hard drive. The 320GB Seagate would probably be a better choice, and still fairly small.

Everything looks pretty much like everything else recommended around here. Good solid build.

Go with the Q6600 and one of these.
Newegg.com - Tuniq Tower 120 P4 & K8 CPU Cooler - Retail

Go with the memory instead
Newegg.com - Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

Im partial to this board over the DS3L as it's a better overclocker.
Newegg.com - ABIT IP35-E LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

however both are great boards

I would choose the 550VX as it's got plenty enough power for that build and also get it off of ZZF as power sources are much cheaper than newegg there.

Prepare to have your card gimped for a while in Vista but oh well.

You have to ask yourself what the computer is going to be for. By lookin at the parts, my guess is gaming. For now, I would stay away from Creative with Vista - Creative isn't keeping up on their end. Research some other companies (HT Omega, Azuntech, M-Audio) to find better cards.

I would go for the Quad Core if I could. Why not!!?

Everything else looks fine. Although you might need some thermal paste, unless your are going to use retail...

The onboard sound that comes with p35 boards is more than enough. Get the oem version of the g0 q6600 and the tuniq tower. Also get the hx520 from buy.com, its 78 bucks after mail in rebate right now.
