Adding RAM question

Simple question:

I have 2 gigs currently, and am planning on buying 2x512Mb's more to add to my system.

My question is: Do the timings of the RAM I buy have to match the RAM that I currently have in my system right now?

they dont have to but it is recommended. otherwise the timings on the faster set of ram will automatically be loosened to match the slower one.

yep blitersety is bang on, its like ram, if you mobo doesn't support 1066 but supports 800 and you have 1066 its gona downgrade it to 800.
