It isn't new, but I don't find in this forum, so it must be new to this forum.
I'm using it already more than 5 years.

1. "Image Backup/Restore" is quite cumbersome to restore your system.
You need your "Recovery CD" and your external harddisk,
You have to insert your Recovery CD in your CD/DVD-drive
You have to choose the right image on your external harddisk.
You have to restore your image on your partition-C
You have to reboot and remove your "Recovery CD"
That's what I call "Slow System Recovery".

2. "Immediate System Recovery (ISR)" restores also your partition-C,
but you don't need a "Recovery CD" or external harddisk.
The only thing you have to do is a simple reboot and you have your system back as it was before.
They usually have two modes : frozen mode and unfrozen mode.

During thawed mode your partition-C accepts all changes,
if the user reboots all changes remain on your system.
During frozen mode your partition-C accepts all changes,
if the user reboots all changes are removed and gone forever.

I'm using the king of all ISR-softwares : FirstDefense-ISR, which is very versatile and solid.
Unfortunately, the development of FirstDefense-ISR has been stopped, because it wasn't a commercial success. The maintenance and support continues for users, who ever bought this software. FirstDefense-ISR is compatible with win2000, winXP, winVISTA and Win7, which means I still can use it for many years.

There are other ISR-softwares available, like
- DeepFreeze by Faronics, which has also a DeepFreeze for Linux
- Returnil Virtual System by Returnil
- ShadowDefender by ???
- ShadowUser by StorageCraft
- etc.

I'm using FirstDefense-ISR's frozen snapshot to restore my partition-C during each reboot :
- it restores Windows and all your other softwares on partition-C to their original installation
- it removes any temporarily installed software completely without any trace.
- it cleans partition-C thoroughly in a safe way, much better than any cleaning-software like CCleaner.
- it restores all registries to their original value, much better and safer, than any registry-software.
- it removes malware as a change on partition-C, better than AV/AS/AT/...-scanners and you can still use your scanners, if you don't trust it.
- it repairs partition-C automatically, when something went wrong.
My reboot takes 2 minuts and all my problems are gone without doing anything except drinking a cup of coffee.
Yes, my computer is a paradise every day during the last 5 years. Isn't that something ?
