It's just me, or it it people I seem to know.
Friend of mine watches anime. I would seem that he would watch all sort of rubbish and think that the show is really good based on the fact that the characters are good looking. And trend that i have been noticing is that you have fanboys dribbling about characters like Rei Ayanami or Motoko kusanagi. Meanwhile you got the girls seem to be dribbling over yoai fanfics involving Sephiroth and Cloud
Seriously, you talk to these people and the shallow excuse for watching a particulare show or playing a Playstation game seems to be "XYZ Character is so good looking [Insert exagerated drool noise here]" and they really could not give two hoots about the plot.
Hello..... these people are drawn up or cgi and yet it would seem that would want to be humping thier leg like a dog on heat.
This bring me onto my next point. The social networking objectives of these people. Back to my friend who watches anime only for the good looking characters. He's gay. Therefore his hard drive is over flowing with suger coat yoai goodness.. Seriously, after you see what this guy has on his wall paper, it seriously does make what to dread what his on his hard drive.
So anyways, this guy goes to an anime con or any social gathering, the what happens is that you get all yoai fan girls fluttering around this guy like a moths to a light bulb at night. And why is that. He into yoai.
Like we got this one girl that hangs around my group of friends. Firstly, she's a bit of an outcast in the group as every else is in thier 30's where she is still getting asked for ID every time we got to a bar. Again, the only reason why she hangs around because of her interest in yoai.
A few days ago, I got a PM on my face book from another friend (more like Old flame) requesting a email address from my gay anime watching friend. The only reason why she want this is that she want to hit his yoai stash on his hard drive and possibly get what ever is on DVD collection which happens to be involving the homosexual relationship between 2 boys. Appart from that, there is no other connection between the two.
To me, I just find this rather shallow.
It's like "Hellio. I see that you are interested in the anime shows that have the same sexual perversions. Lets be friends."
Like every time I see this, I think to myself "Oh thank goodness, I am so glad that I am not into anime as much as I used to be any more"
