Suddely I am getting loads of pop ups and other crap

I have started getting pop ups and other crap, I have anti virus installed but I am sure it something else to do with ads etc. Could anyone please recommend a way out of this mess.

What AV do you have?

Download MalwareBytes Antimalware (Free version), install it and update it. Boot into Safe Mode with Networking and run a Full Scan with MBAM.

I've seen quite a few people on Twitter saying that the number of pop ups they've been seeing has gone up recently too. What anti-virus software did you have - maybe there's a bug with it?

Spybot Search and Destroy (free) also does a good job at removing spyware / malware. You can run this routinely to help prevent getting major infections.
