Ipod nano won't stay on

I've done some searching and can't find anything like this one...

I have an Ipod nano 8GB I found while cleaning out an old berthing. (sleeping area) I plug in a standard ipod USB cable to try and charge it, and I get nothing... It's trying to come on; I see the screen light up for about 2 seconds, then a "click", then it shuts off.

It does this repeatedly every 2 seconds or so. I try to reset it, nothing; windows doesn't see it, cause it can't stay on long enough to do anything...

Is it dead, or can there be some hope? I tried to email appple, but I can't seem to find a stupid link... I guess I just didn't look hard enough, but still, you'd think they would have it more accessable.

Any help? Thanks.

Windows (and Itunes) doesn't even see it, so after doing a little research, come to find out, your right... I'll need a new battery, so I'm not sure if it's worth it or not... but free is free. Thanks.

Even if it's not worth it to replace the battery yourself I'm sure you could ebay it for like $100.
