I have a wireless home network w/2 PCs, one (newish) w/XP and built-in WIFI, the other (older) on W98SE with a TrendNet WIFI PCMCIA card.

PC#1 works flawlessly.
PC#2: 256MB RAM, plenty of available HD, 800mHz CPU. It boots fine, I have a ZoneAlarm firewall. Internet connection is fine. I can work for about 10 minutes and then the system locks; I can't CTL/ALT/DEL out of it. If I boot and do nothing at all, the system shuts down after about 10 minutes and when I boot again it goes into SCANDISK (bad shutdown).

When I pull the TrendNet card and run offline, there is no problem - I can work or not forever, the system stays up.

Any suggestions on where to start looking? Thank you very much.

Fred

Update the drivers on the card and perform all Microsoft patches. If that does not work, I would upgrade to XP. 800mhz and 256mb of ram will run it fine. 98SE is not exactley stable when it comes to PCMCIA cards. Just my expierence.
