Setting up Servers.

ok so today i get to set up a server and client systems. so what i need to do is to set them up behind a router, so i assume that means take a router and then connect the server and client systems to the router. but im not 100% about all that so if i could get some pointers on how to do that that woudl be great.

WHat kind of a router is it? Is it a gateway/router that you see in a typical home? Or is it a true router that you never see?

well the idea is that the server is being connected to 4 client systems which is then connected to the internet so i think its just a normal router that you would see at home.
