Hello,

I have two desktops with LAN cards. I have a D-Link DI-624 wireless router with 4 open LAN ports.

1. How can I share files between the two desktop HDs?

2. Do I just need to connect the 2nd desktop to the router and "look" for it on My Network Neighborhood?

3. The 2nd desktop has a ZIP drive also...am I able to control and pull files off this ZIP drive from my other computer when both computers are networked?

Thank you all!

Make sure they are both in the same workgroup, &share the folders you want to share. Depending on the OS you are using you may need to make a user account for the opposite computer on each one.

using xp ive been able to successfully share files between machines in different workgroups.

Yes, map network drive via IP, HOST file, WINS, DNS, being in the same broadcast domain helps, and even when the nbtstat caches isn't clear.

Being in the same workgroup only works when using NetBIOS, because most user rely on "My Network Place" which is a legacy application dating back to 95/98 that still relied on NetBIOS to do name to IP resolution.
