We recently moved every computer in our house to wireless, but we don't have a wireless card (yet) for one of the desktops. Is there any way to connect to the internet via another computer, something I can do with an ethernet cable perhaps? The router is on a different floor and it would be impractical to get a cable to run from there to the desktop.

Without a WiFi card. You would ahve to setup another roter or use one of hte laptops as a access point.

Use a crossover cable from the laptop's ethernet jack to the desktop's ethernet port, and configure both wired ports according to that guide. I've done it before; just be sure to disable any firewall you have, or it won't work (firewall will block access). I wouldn't suggest doing this unless you have to hough, or just a temporary solution.

Doh!! I forgot about that topic. Nice suggestion Carnage.
