Solenoid needed!

I'm currently in the middle of my GCSE Systems & Control project, and I'm in need of a small, powerful (preferably inexpensive) solenoid that can run on 6 volts. I currently have a simple solenoid where the main section is approx. 18x30x20mm - the problem with this is that it will not retract under the weight and downforce of what is being rested against it. Any help is appreciated!
