Hello. I just finished my AAS in Health Information Management. I was really disappointed in the lack of any IT training. I wish to further my education but am not sure as to what direction is best for me. I am proficient in Microsoft Office (self tought) and have always been quick to learn software. Years ago, I taught myself HTML and created websites for some friends. I also like databases and found Access to be a lot of fun. Now that I have finished my HIM degree, I would like to get some type of IT training. Here are my questions:
1) Is a Microsoft Certification worth anything (like their database management) without a formal education it IT?
2) Does anyone know about Informatics and whether a certificate is sufficient or if I should go for a BS in Informatics?
3) What online schools are good (and not outrageously expensive) for IT training?
4) Any suggestions or ideas are much appreciated
