hello everyone!!

I join this thread in the attempt to figure out a very important question in life. What should I do for a living!?!?!

I am thinking about going to school right now and would like advice on wheather or not the program i should go for is worth while. I thought a tech forum would be the best place to ask for advice as I do not know anyone in the field.

The degree would be a two year tech diploma for the title of IT Network Specialist.
IT Network Specialist A.A.S. Degree

I chose this because it seems most broad and campatable with most other fields for future employment possiblities. I just wonder if anyone has any advice on where to start as I am a family man with a full time job, need to get the ball rolling on school very soon. Any advice as to weather this would be wise or a waste of time, would be greately appreciated.

Thank you very much to anyone that takes the time,
Mero

Appears to me you are on the right path Alpha! My only advice is to make every attempt to take the corresponding certification exams for the material you are going to be studying (CCNA, MSCA, Network+ etc) Those, in conjunction with your degree, will improve your odds greatly at landing a decent job. Salaries for holders of Cisco certifications have maintained a steady increase in a recent study from TCPmag (26% for CCNA since 2004).

As far as figuring out what to do with your life--career wise--I would reccomend simply winging it for now. Something will spark an interest sooner or later and when it does, just stick with it. The degree and corresponding certificates are applicable in a wide range of career paths. I wish you the best on your journey and hope the answers you seek present themselves sooner rather than later. - Rube

Thank you, I appreciate the response. The career choice is extremely frustrating and confusing. But I see that as the best option I could find for the moment. Thank you for your reply.
