So, I'm working on a radiation detector for a science project. I have a small pcb that outputs clicks from the radiation detected, its powered my a 9v battery. My idea was that I could hook up the output of the radiation detector to the microphone port of my laptop but I'm unsure if the 9v signal will fry it :p

Would this work or do i need to limit the voltage somehow?

9v may be the input, but what's the actual output from the speaker/sound output?

so the pcb will input 9v into the microphone slot in the computer. I will play the recording through the laptop speakers with which I can change the volume.

No, I mean 9v is the input into your radiation detector unit...but measure the output voltage from the unit to whatever is your output plug.

I can't measure the voltage right now because i don't have a multi-meter with me atm. However, I do have the schematic of the pcb which may help:
